On Thursday, Jan 7th, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that President Donald Trump is banned from Facebook, indefinitely.

In a prepared statement , Zuckerberg said, “We believe the risks of allowing the President to continue to use our service during this period are simply too great. Therefore, we are extending the block we have placed on his Facebook and Instagram accounts indefinitely and for at least the next two weeks until the peaceful transition of power is complete.”

Twitter, who had first suspended Trump for only 12 hours after the January 6th Capitol Hill Riot by Trump supporters, gave him back access to his account only to ban him permanently a day later. Twitter gave a detailed list of reasons on why they chose to close the account and you can read it in full by clicking here. Twitter states that  “After assessing the language in these Tweets against our Glorification of Violence policy, we have determined that these Tweets are in violation of the Glorification of Violence Policy and the user @realDonaldTrump should be immediately permanently suspended from the service.”

One police officer and four trump supporters were killed during the January 6th rioting in Washington DC, including Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt, 37, who was shot down from the broken window she was trying to climb through when she and others were attempting to force their way through a locked door to the Speaker’s Lobby inside the Capitol building on Wednesday.

The current president, who has consistently accused Democrats of stealing the November 2020 election with fake ballots, issued this statement on Thursday.

“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20.

I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted. While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again.”

Trump also put out a video statement January 7th condemning his followers who participated in the destruction of the Capitol Building, emphasizing that we as a nation now need to “heal”, and thanking his other fans for all of their support.
