Is It God Leading Me, or Is It Just What I Want?

One of the questions I find myself asking more often as I grow in my Christian faith is whether something I feel strongly about is actually God’s direction or simply my own desire. There have been times when I wanted something so badly that I began interpreting almost everything around me as ... READ the POST

I’m Allowed to Change My Mind

There are opinions I once held very strongly that I don’t agree with anymore. There are things I once said I would never do that I eventually did. There are people I misunderstood, situations I judged too quickly, goals I stopped wanting, and beliefs about life that made perfect sense to me at one ... READ the POST

I don’t agree with every version of myself I’ve ever been, and I’m finally okay with that. Life teaches us things we couldn’t have known ten or twenty years ago. Sometimes changing your mind doesn’t mean you’re inconsistent, it means you learned, grew, and allowed yourself to see things differently.

My Definition of a Good Day Has Changed

When I was younger, a good day usually meant something happened. There was somewhere to go, something to buy, someone to see, or something exciting enough to make the day feel different from all the others. A good weekend needed plans. A good vacation needed activities. A good birthday needed to ... READ the POST

The older I get, the more my definition of a “good day” has changed. I don’t need something exciting to happen anymore. Sometimes a good day is simply one where everyone I love is okay, nothing goes terribly wrong, I laugh a little, eat something good, and go to bed with some peace. I’m learning that ordinary days deserve more appreciation than we give them.

Why Are We Saving the Good Stuff for Someday?

Why do we keep saving the good stuff for “someday”? The nice dishes, the expensive perfume, the outfit we love, the candle that smells too good to burn. I’m starting to realize that ordinary days are still part of the life we prayed for. Maybe Tuesday is enough of a special occasion. Use the good stuff. Enjoy what you have. Today actually showed up.

What If I’m Not Unhappy, I’m Just Bored With My Life?

There are times when absolutely nothing is wrong with my life, and yet something still feels a little off. That can be difficult to admit because we usually assume dissatisfaction must have a reason. If I am unhappy, surely there must be something wrong. Maybe I don’t like my job. Maybe there is a ... READ the POST

Have you ever looked at your life and thought, “Nothing is really wrong, so why do I feel so restless?” Maybe you don’t need to change your entire life. Maybe you’ve just been doing the same things for so long that you forgot you’re allowed to try something new. Sometimes we aren’t unhappy, we’re simply bored.

When Did Being Forgiving Turn Into Letting People Walk All Over Me?

I have always considered being forgiving one of my better qualities. I don’t like holding grudges. I don’t enjoy staying angry with people. Even when someone hurts me, there is usually a part of me that tries to understand why they did what they did. Maybe they were having a bad day. Maybe they ... READ the POST

I’ve been asking myself a hard question lately: Am I really just a forgiving person, or have I become too easy to take advantage of? There’s a difference between choosing peace and being afraid of conflict. I’m learning that I can forgive someone, love them, pray for them and still say, “You don’t get to keep treating me like that.”
